Re: Manhood and the masculine divine
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 8:27 PMwow, that's a big question.
the green man is the masculine deity that appeals to me the most. he is the god of nature, of green and growing things. he is the horned one, the shepherd of living things. he is the consort to the goddess. he is strength of oak, softness of thistledown. he is the lord of life and, in his darker aspect, he is the lord of death.
greeks called him pan. he is osiris to the egyptians, his horned aspect was demonized by the church and he became the horned devil.
i also identify with poseidon, dionysius, the celtic mabon, and lugh, the celtic god of the sun.
according to mythology, my grandmother's clan was descended from the dagda, the irish zeus.
i'd love to discuss the gods further.

Re: Manhood and the masculine divine
Tue, April 1, 2008 - 9:04 PMThat is hard, and I wouldn't try to keep it to just one. Pan's playfulness and connection to the wild, hermes intellect and craft, Try's willingness to sacrifice to protect others and serve the greater good. -

Re: Manhood and the masculine divine
Wed, April 2, 2008 - 10:56 AMI would have to say Odin, who encompasses all of the power expected of a male deity. He is neither good nor evil. He is the overseer of all of the Runic deities and yet rules over none. He offers much to those willing to give what it takes to benefit from his powers.
